The association is new. Some of the members were born and grew up in Syria and know the conditions from there. There are already connections to Danish and European organisations.
Purpose
The association wants to take part in rebuilding Syria and places particular weight on Palmyra. The projects are chosen according to what matters most to the town and to the people who live there.
The help is long-term. It is meant to make it possible to get back on one's feet and provide for oneself. That happens through education, through help in starting a business, and through other things that make it easier to manage. Children and women have a particular place. The support is for local Syrian families, regardless of religion or background.
Art and culture
Art and culture are part of the work. They are meant to strengthen social cohesion and make room for a conversation in which Syria's diversity is present.
Cooperation
The association works with local associations in Syria, with Danish associations and universities, and with international organisations.
The team
The team is put together so that the kinds of experience complement one another. There is room for planning, for images and form, and for specialists such as anthropologists and people with knowledge of human rights, when a project requires it.
The starting point
After many years of rule, Syrians are again finding that the future is their own. At the same time security is fragile, and the consequences of the war continue. Trust between people, the most necessary things of daily life, and work one can live on, have to be built up. The association wants to take part in that.
